The Dunoon Youth Football League (DYFL) recently organized a fancy dress Hallowe’en walk to support its growing number of young athletes.
The event took place on Sunday (October 27), with participants walking a scenic route from Westbay to Kirn Variety and back.
DYFL, which provides football coaching for over 200 children of all ages throughout the year, is entirely run by dedicated volunteers.
The club has seen a surge in participation, boasting more teams than ever, and promotes not just physical fitness, but also teamwork, critical thinking, and overall mental wellbeing amongst its young members.
In light of rising costs impacting many community organisations, the Hallowe’en walk aimed to raise essential funds to continue supporting the club’s activities.
Participants donned creative and spooky costumes, adding a festive spirit to the day as they walked together, raising over £185 through online donations.
The support from the local community is crucial for the sustainability of DYFL, ensuring that children can continue to enjoy the many benefits of football.
The Hallowe’en walk not only highlighted the club’s commitment to its players, but also underscored the importance of community involvement in nurturing young talent.
