This year’s Rotary Charity Appeal is for Cowal Befrienders, and to kick off the fundraising the club held a successful Quiz Night at Bogleha’ Bowling Club on Friday (November 15).
Befrienders gave a resume of their fantastic work before the start of the quiz, outlining what a worthwhile cause this is.
The full house of teams enjoyed quiz compere Alison Currie’s questions and banter and with spot prizes and team name prizes as well as actual quiz prizes the fun level was high.
Best team name was “We thought it was speed-dating”, Quiz winners were, fittingly, the Befrienders’ own team “Whose Zimmer is this anyway?”, and second prize went to the Swimming Club’s “Aqua Holics”.
Quizzers gave generously to the raffle and silent auction and a healthy sum of £704 has gone to start the fund.
The Just Giving page is publicized on the club’s Facebook page and there are posters round the town with the donating QR code. Look out for the fabulous Christmas hamper raffles at the Dunoon Markets, and for Santa’s grotto (at the Christmas Lights switch on) which will be run again this year by Rotarian “elves”.
