Cowal GPs step up to support community health services

The Cowal community health team is facing severe staff shortages, and the area’s already-stretched GP practices are taking up some of the Community Treatment and Care (CTAC) team’s workload.

An HSCP spokesperson said: “Under exceptional circumstances to minimise service disruptions, local GP surgeries have stepped in to support the team deliver the service until January 6, 2025.

“As a result, some patients’ CTAC appointments will be conducted by GP practices and the winter vaccination scheduled clinics will continue as normal.

“Cowal CTAC service provides essential services such as drawing blood samples and routine vaccinations. The implemented service support measures have effectively ensured the continuity of services and highlight our successful close working partnership with local general practitioners who continually work hard to provide high-quality care and services.

“The GPs’ commitment will ensure that all residents continue to have access to essential CTAC services.

“The HSCP extends its gratitude to our local CTAC staff, bank staff, Cowal Medical Practice, Riverbank Surgery, and Church Street Practice for their exceptional support in sustaining the delivery of local CTAC services.”
