Dunoon Coastguard and Divers make a Splash

On Wednesday, December 11, Dunoon Coastguard participated in a special pool session with the local dive club, Dunoon Divers, at the Riverside Leisure Centre.

The event aimed to provide valuable education on a variety of diving equipment, common hazards to watch out for while diving, and what to expect if the Coastguard is called out to assist in a diving incident.

Jason Coles, Chair of Dunoon Divers, said: “I think it’s great that the local Coastguard reached out to us to put on this session.

“It shows how interested they are in the diving that we do around the local area and there were some great questions and demonstrations done on diver rescue situations and all the equipment that we use.

“We are happy that everyone learned something during the session and it’s great to have the Coastguard here should there ever be a situation unfold on a dive site.”

The session proved to be an informative and engaging opportunity for divers to connect with the Coastguard and enhance their awareness of safety measures in the water.

This partnership highlights the importance of teamwork between local emergency services and the diving community, ensuring preparedness in the event of a diving emergency.
