Cowal Dance and Fitness stars shine at Scottish Championships

SIX young baton twirlers from Cowal Dance and Fitness brought home an impressive haul of trophies, medals and certificates after competing at the Twirl Sport Scotland Scottish Championships in Edinburgh earlier this month.

The competition took place on May 9 and 10, with Libby Wilson, Katie-Rose Morrison and Sandaigh McKenna pictured in the back row of the team photo, alongside front row competitors Ailish Brown, Douglas Conning and

Elise Morris.

The talented youngsters all achieved personal bests during the championships, with Libby competing at her first-ever Scottish Championships and exceeding expectations with her performances.

In the solo twirl category, Ailish secured fifth place while Elise claimed an impressive second place finish.

For artistic twirl, Ailish again took fifth place, Elise earned second place and Douglas achieved sixth place.

The club also enjoyed success in the two baton category, where Douglas placed seventh, Katie-Rose finished sixth, Ailish took fourth place and Elise added another second place finish to her growing medal collection.

In the pre-artistic pair competition, Libby and Sandaigh finished seventh, while Douglas and Katie-Rose achieved second place. Artistic pair competitors Elise and Ailish also secured second place.

Ailish narrowly missed out on the podium in artistic performance with fourth place, while Elise was crowned Scottish Champion after a standout routine.

The team’s success continued in the group dance competition, where they achieved second place overall.

A spokesperson for Cowal Dance and Fitness said the club was ‘very proud’ of all six competitors for their hard work and achievements throughout the championships.

The club also wished Elise Morris and Douglas Conning the best of luck as they prepare to return to Edinburgh next month to compete in the Celtic Cup.
