CHILDREN from Apple Tree Nursery enjoyed a knockout day of learning after visiting Dunoon Amateur Boxing Club to meet one of the town’s rising sporting stars.
The early learning and childcare pupils were welcomed to the gym by young boxer Dani Bancks, alongside her mum Karin, coach Russell and her brother Matthew, who is currently training to become a Scottish boxing official.
During the visit, Dani showed the children her impressive collection of medals, including the bronze medal she recently won while representing Scotland.
The youngsters then had the chance to step into the boxing ring themselves, where they learned some basic boxing techniques and warm-up exercises before taking part in fun, active games.
To round off the visit, each child received a medal presented by Dani, giving them a special keepsake from the day.
In a post on social media, Apple Tree Nursery thanked everyone at the club for making the visit such a memorable experience.
The nursery said: “Today, our ELC children had a fantastic visit to meet young boxer Dani Bancks at the boxing gym in Dunoon.
“A huge thank you to Karin for organising this wonderful experience, and to Dani, Matthew and Russell for making us feel so welcome.”
The nursery also wished Dani the best of luck as she prepares to compete at the International Box Cup in Doncaster this August.
