WEEKS of hard work have paid off with the grand opening of a new playpark on the promenade at Rothesay.
Youngsters from the town’s Apple Tree Nursery helped to officially open the park, and staff there say they will be using it on a daily basis, weather permitting.
Inspired by the Bute BID team, the playpark has been realised with the support of a £25,000 grant from the Scottish Government.
The £44,000 project has been crafted through a package of funding secured by the Bute BID.
There is a pirate ship, a trampoline and swings, all for the use of local youngsters and those waiting in the queue for the ferry.
A member of the BID team said the playpark offers “a bit of fun for everyone”.
A spokesman for Argyll and Bute Council said: “We are delighted that the newly refurbished playpark in Rothesay has opened and can be used during the summer holidays.
“The Scottish Government has provided funding of £25,000 to ensure that the park has had a facelift and some equipment replaced. Thanks to everyone in the community who gave their views and worked with us to ensure that we developed a facility that meets the needs of the children and young people who will use it.
“We hope they enjoy it.”
