Played in sweltering conditions, the sides served up an entertaining contest despite the heat, with hydration breaks required throughout the afternoon.
Oban made the brighter start and capitalised on a pair of defensive lapses to establish a two-goal lead inside the opening 15 minutes. Conor Howe opened the scoring before Calum MacMillan doubled the visitors’ advantage shortly afterwards.
ColGlen responded well and gave themselves hope when Andrew Tyre unleashed a thunderous long-range strike, which flew into the top corner of Cammy Sutherland’s net.
The goal lifted the home side, and they pushed hard in search of an equaliser, but Oban remained sharp in possession and restored their two-goal cushion before the break. A well-worked team move was clinically finished by Ross Campbell to make it 3-1 at half-time.
ColGlen continued to battle throughout the second half, but despite piling on the pressure, they were unable to find a way through an organised Oban defence.
The visitors stood firm to see out the match without conceding again, securing a 3-1 victory after an entertaining Premiership encounter.
ColGlen winger Somhairle Fraser, who is sponsored by Trail Architects, turned in an outstanding performance and was named the home side’s man of the match.
