Henry family celebrates success at Meg Henry Memorial Rosebowl

INNELLAN Bowling & Tennis Club welcomed members and guests for the annual Meg Henry Memorial Rosebowl on Saturday, July 25, with players enjoying an afternoon of tennis despite an unsettled start to the day.

Although rain fell during the morning, the weather improved in time for play, allowing the popular memorial tournament to go ahead in sunshine.

The event attracted an excellent turnout, with members from Innellan Bowling & Tennis Club, Castle Tennis Club and members of Meg Henry’s family all taking part.

There was a particularly fitting outcome as Meg’s son, Graeme Henry, and his partner, Kim Campbell of Castle Tennis Club, claimed the Rosebowl trophy.

Castle Tennis Club also provided the runners-up, with Lynn Quinn and Helen Waddell finishing second after an enjoyable afternoon of competition.

Following the tournament, Meg’s grandson, Innes Henry, presented the Rosebowl to his father, Graeme, and Kim before players and spectators enjoyed afternoon tea.

The club thanked Margaret and Duncan Lauder for their generous sponsorship of the annual event, which once again proved to be a fitting celebration of Meg Henry’s memory.
