GRAFFITI in various different locations in Dunoon is being investigated by local police, who have described the acts of vandalism as antisemitic.
Graffiti, seemingly linked in nature, appeared on walls last week on Dhailling Road, Hunter Street, Queen Street, outside Dunoon Stadium and on the side of a car parked at Cowal Golf Club.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: We are investigating a number of reports of antisemitic graffiti in the Dunoon area on Saturday, August, 29.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, including private CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 1139 of Sunday, August, 30.
While there appears to be no obvious correlation with antisemitic wording or symbolism most of the defacements are tagged with the numbers 803 and the word Senti but some of the graffiti features inverted crosses and pentagrams along with clear references to the extremist online group 764.
Also commonly known as The Com, the group has been described as a violent online network associated with the exploitation of minors, extortion and the encouragement of violence and self-harm of children and teenagers.
It remains unclear whether the apparent 764 reference relates to the online network at all but it is clear these acts of vandalism occurred during a short space of time across Dunoon and are linked.
