PORT BANNATYNE Golf Club enjoyed a busy weekend of competition, with the final of its Junior Championship followed by the annual Dunkies Day.
The Junior Championship final saw Louie McDonald defeat Cameron Fisher 1up after a hard-fought contest.
Cameron found himself four down after 10 holes, but battled back impressively to bring the match all square through 16.
Louie won the 17th to head down the last one up, leaving Cameron needing to win the hole to take the match to sudden death.
Cameron came agonisingly close, with a putt to win the hole lipping out, allowing Louie to claim the championship.
Third place went to Aidan Pelligrotti.
The club congratulated both finalists for their efforts, with plenty of promising years ahead for the young golfers.
Thanks were also given to Donald Standaloft Heating and Plumbing for its generous sponsorship of the junior section throughout the year.
The weekend also saw the club host its annual ‘Dunkies Day’, an opportunity to thank Duncan Lyon for all his hard work throughout the season.
Dozens of golfers took to the course for a two-person scramble, with mixed teams, juniors and seniors all taking part.
The course was once again in superb condition following recent greens work, although the tricky wind conditions made scoring a challenge.
Donald Standaloft and Davie Kilpatrick took the scratch prize, while also picking up a couple of nearest-the-pin prizes.
The main event was won by Arran Dunn and Jordan Morrison, who collected the trophy and their prizes.
The prize for best mixed team went to Stuart and Elaine McLean.
The club thanked Duncan and Fiona Lyon for their continued support, with a good turnout at the clubhouse afterwards rounding off the day.
