Age is Just a Number: Ardnahein Care Home goes for gold at summer Olympics

Dunoon’s Ardnahein Care Home proudly celebrated its achievements at the Care Home Summer Olympics, recently held with competitors from across the Highlands and Argyll and Bute.

On October 28, the home was honoured with four prestigious awards, recognising the hard work and dedication of its residents and staff.

The awards were presented by Liz Higgins, Associate Nurse Director of Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership, who commended the team’s spirit and effort throughout the competition.

The first award was for participation in the Summer Olympics, accepted on behalf of all residents by Hugh, representing the collective enthusiasm of Ardnahein.

A special recognition was awarded to 102-year-old Kath Miller, who participated in every activity, showcasing remarkable determination and spirit.

Marion, the housekeeping supervisor, also received an award for achieving the highest step count in the Argyll and Bute area, averaging an incredible 30,000 or more steps a day.

The final award celebrated Ardnahein as the Overall Best Care Home in the Highlands and Argyll and Bute area, marking a historic achievement as the first care home to receive this honour.

The team at Ardnahein expressed their pride in the collective effort and camaraderie displayed during the Olympics.

The success at the Care Home Summer Olympics highlights the vibrant community spirit at Ardnahein, demonstrating that age is no barrier to enthusiasm and achievement.
