AFTER 15 magical years, Bruan Innellan is preparing for its last ever Christmas lights switch on.
Known for spectacular seasonal light displays, Bruan, (which is the name of the house on Matheson Lane, Innellan, where the displays are held), has delighted locals with charity-driven arrangements and illuminated creations on Halloween and Christmas.
But this Saturday at 6pm organisers will switch the lights on for the very last time. A statement on their official Facebook page thanked everyone who supported their Halloween display which was a great success, drawing around 400 attendees and raising funds to support this year’s Christmas display, which will also feature a tombola, home made soup, hot chocolate, hot dogs, tea and coffee.
The statement read: “This will be our fifteenth year of the big charity display, and unfortunately, our last. There will still be lights, and we will still try and raise some cash for local causes, but the big structures have to go. The bridge, tunnel, waterfall etc is quite simply, killing us.
Age and health have gotten the best of us, and I think very few people realise the work involved, not just at Christmas, but throughout the year. Fighting storms and the damage they do just doesn’t help. Over the years, we have never yet managed to break the elusive £2000 mark. So, if you have never been to see the lights at Bruan before, this will be your last chance to see the full big display. Thanks to everyone for the support over the past 15 years. It really is appreciated.”
This final full display offers the community one last chance to experience the magic of Bruan’s hard work and dedication and an opportunity to donate money to worthy local causes. So let’s help break the elusive £2,000 mark and make this final year one to remember.
