ARGYLL and Bute Council has launched a formal consultation on the introduction of a visitor levy for the Isle of Bute.
The local authority is hosting a series of drop-in events and online information webinars to help people in Argyll and Bute find out more and get involved in assessing one for the area.
Residents and local businesses are invited to share their views on the potential scheme. The proposal, which is being considered across Scotland, could generate income to benefit both local communities and visitors by funding shared services.
The consultation, which runs until April 10, includes a survey asking participants for their opinions on how any income should be spent and what support local businesses might need if the levy were implemented.
In addition to the survey, the council is hosting a series of drop-in events and online webinars over the coming weeks to provide further information and encourage community involvement. The one-hour online sessions, which require advance booking will be accessible via the council website, while drop-in events will not require prior registration.
The initiative aims to ensure that residents of Argyll and Bute have the opportunity to shape the future of local investment from a visitor levy.
Rothesays event will take place on Monday, March 10 at Rothesay Academy from 4.30pm to 7pm.
