Representatives from Colintraive, Kilmun and Strathlachlan joined Innellan Carpet Bowling Club on Saturday, January 25, to play for The Lamont Trophy – sponsored by Bert Mitchell on behalf of the Lamont family.
Lots of games went to the wire and, in the end, the final was full of suspense until the last bowl.
Congratulations to Georgina Cossar and Ali MacLean (Kilmun CBC) who just pipped Colin Steedman and Donny MacPhail to the win.
The score was almost even until Colin and Donnie scored a four halfway through the game, but the Kilmun pair stuck in and got back to one down going into the last end.
With Georgie and Ali lying one shot (to make it peels) you could have heard a pin drop when the last two bowls were delivered.
Ali then drew a perfect shot to make it two for them and claim the trophy for 2025.
commiserations to Colin and Donny.
The beaten semi finalists were Moira Macdonald and Tam Macdonald (losing in an extra end) and also Bert Mitchell and Murray Wilson.
Special thanks went to Carrie O’Brien, who solely manned the kitchen, heated and prepared the multiple donations of food.
Thanks were also extended to everyone who brought food and raffle prizes.
President Duncan Lauder presented the trophy and thanked everyone for coming along, giving special thanks to Carrie and the sponsors.
The next open tournament on the circuit is Open Pairs on February 22, at Kilmun CBC for the Kilmun Cup.
