Local ladies chamber choir, Voices of Argyll, added a new dimension to their repertoire when they provided the backing vocals at the sell-out Beluga Lagoon concert in Dunoon’s Queen’s Hall last Saturday night.
Choir members described this as “a fantastic experience”, “a great night with a great band”, “another wonderful experience”.
A choir spokeswoman said: “The band was hugely supportive of the part played by Voices of Argyll in the concert and the large crowd was also very appreciative.”
Voices of Argyll are now eagerly anticipating appearing again with Beluga Lagoon at another sell-out concert, this time in the O2 Academy in Glasgow next Thursday evening.
Beluga Lagoon won the spotlight award this year at the Scottish Music Awards. The band’s lead singer, Andrew O’Donnell, is a Scottish singer-songwriter whose songs are inspired by the outdoors and Scottish wildlife.
The choir sopkeswoman continued: “This fits well with the Voices of Argyll’s core values of music, nature and wellbeing.
“If anyone in the Cowal area was disappointed not to get a ticket for Beluga Lagoon last week, Andrew O’Donnell is the guest artist at the Voices of Argyll Carols by Candlelight concerts in Kirn and Sandbank Parish Church, Kirn on Friday (December 13) at 7.30pm and Kilmodan Church, Glendaruel on Sunday (December 15) at 4.30pm. There are still a few tickets available for Friday.
There will be a recruitment evening for Voices of Argyll on Wednesday, January 8 in the Royal Marine Hotel, Hunter’s Quay.
