STRACHUR-DUNOON moved to the top of South Two with a convincing 10-1 victory over Stirling Camanachd at Bridge of Allan on Saturday.
The Cowal side produced one of their best attacking performances of the season, racing into a 7-0 half-time lead with a fast-paced display on the Haws surface.
Sandy Paterson completed a first-half hat-trick, including an unusual effort which deflected off his backside and into the net from the Stirling goalkeeper.
Ken Lawns added a fine solo goal, while Angus Campbell struck from his backhand and Steven Thomson scored twice to put the visitors firmly in control.
Stirling continued to battle despite the scoreline and were rewarded in the 55th minute when Chris Cameron capitalised on a defensive mistake to slot home from close range.
Strachur-Dunoon continued to threaten at the other end, however, and added three further goals to complete a 10-1 victory.
Thomson marked his full return to the squad in style, completing a five-goal haul after adding two more in the second-half, including a superb lob from distance.
Marty Hall completed the scoring with a well-struck volley which caught the Stirling goalkeeper off guard.
The result leaves Strachur-Dunoon in pole position heading into Saturday’s crucial South Two clash with Bute, with the league title now going down to the final game.
A Strachur-Dunoon victory or draw will see the side crowned South Division Two champions, while a Bute win would hand the Islanders their second South Two title in five seasons.
Steven Thomson was one of two players voted Man of the Match, having scored five goals, while Iain Wilson was also recognised for another outstanding performance at half-back.
The club was delighted to see Wilson back in the team after several years away.
Saturday’s decisive match will take place at the Clachan of Glendaruel due to existing bookings at both Strachurmore and Dunoon Stadium, with throw up at 3pm.
