PLANS for a disused administration office to become accommodation units have been approved by council officers.
The proposal by Mr and Mrs Bowie was for The Bunker at North Connel to create extra space for the existing living quarters.
Argyll and Bute Council received no representations from the public during the planning process, and planning permission has now been granted.
A council official said in a handling report: “The site comprises the dwellinghouse and a former administrative building. The dwelling is set in generous grounds and overlooks the adjacent Oban airfield.
“The dwelling, accessed via a single-track public road from the settlement of North Connel, is relatively isolated and has no immediate neighbours.
“The former administration building subject to this application sits immediately to the rear of the dwelling house, and is a long single-storey, flat roofed structure that runs the length of the main dwelling at the rear elevation. A passageway laid with paving slabs separates the two buildings.
“The proposal seeks to renovate the former offices to form ancillary accommodation to the dwelling. In terms of built development requiring express planning permission, the proposal includes replacing the existing flat roof with a shallow pitched roof, and the installation of two decked areas to the rear.”
The report added: “The proposed change of use is considered a sustainable reuse of a vacant build that is compatible with existing land-use, and which has no significant adverse visual impact on the site and local area.”
