A recovery event, which has been described as a “family-friendly celebration” by Inverclyde Council, will be held in Greenock later this month.
The local authority has reminded people about the day – the second of its kind – at Beacon Arts Centre, Custom House Quay, from 11am until 4pm on Saturday, September 26.
It forms part of a programme organised in partnership with a range of organisations, community groups and Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Partnership for Recovery Month 2026.
This week, an update shared on social media said: “The Beacon Recovery Event on Saturday, September 26, from 11am to 4pm, is a family-friendly celebration open to everyone.
“The event will bring together people in recovery and those interested in recovery together with family members, friends, communities, organisations and local services for a day of fun, connection and inspiration.
“Visitors can expect entertainment, activities, information stalls, opportunities to meet local organisations and a welcoming atmosphere that celebrates recovery in all its forms.
“Whether you are personally affected by alcohol or drug use, supporting a loved one, working within services or simply want to show your support, you are invited to come along and be part of the celebration.”
Recovery Month has come as Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership reviews and updates its alcohol and drug recovery service (ADRS) to ensure people can access the right support, at the right time, in the right place.
When someone is looking for help with alcohol or drug use, the aim is to connect them to the service that best meets their needs. This may be the ADRS, Moving on Inverclyde or Your Voice.
The review has been shaped by people with lived experience, families, carers, staff and partner organisations.
