BLAIRMORE Scottish Country Dancing Club welcomed dancers from across the region last month for a lively evening celebrating the fun, fitness and friendship that traditional dancing brings.
The event, held on February 21, saw a packed hall of enthusiastic dancers from clubs near and far gather for a night of music and movement.
Entertainment was provided by the Martainn Skene Band from Glasgow, whose lively and accomplished music proved a big hit with dancers from around the Shore as well as visitors from further afield.
What made the evening particularly special, however, was the presence of two dancers at opposite ends of the age scale – proving that Scottish country dancing really is for everyone.
Among those taking to the floor was Angela, aged 96, who has been dancing with the Blairmore club for many years. She is also well known among members for bringing along her famous pavlova to party nights.
Joining her was Erica, aged nine, who has strong ties to the Blairmore club and, despite only dancing for a few years, has already shown she can hold her own alongside much more experienced dancers.
Although the club is now winding down for the season, there will still be opportunities for easy summer dancing in Blairmore and Dunoon.
The club will return in full in September, when newcomers of all ages and experience levels will be warmly welcomed to join in.
