Ardentinny BC returns for summer season

MEMBERS of Ardentinny Bowling Club gathered for the opening of their green on Saturday, April 4.

President Dougie Menzies welcomed everyone who had packed into the clubhouse, including friends and members from kindred clubs, and thanked them all for attending on such a wet afternoon.

Before the opening ceremony commenced, a minute’s silence was held in memory of all members and friends who have passed away. Menzies then introduced the opening party: Ann Devine (treasurer), Robert Devine (secretary), Linda Taplin (who threw the Silver Jack) and Ben Jackson representing kindred clubs. Dougie thanked the sponsors for this year: Lydia Moodie, Western Ferries, The Ardentinny, The Blairmore, The Cot House Services and Ross MacArthur Contractor Ltd. After Dougie and Ben had given their speeches, it was time for Linda to throw the Silver Jack to open the green officially.

Back inside, afternoon tea was served, followed by the raffle.

Dougie finished off by thanking the ladies for their superb home baking and Joan for working hard behind the bar.

A spokesperson for the club said: “To everyone from our kindred clubs, to all who came along and made the day a success and for the good luck messages, thank you all for your support.”
