Ardentinny Easter Fun Day proves a hit despite wild weather

FAMILIES turned out in good numbers for this year’s Easter Fun Day at Glenfinart Walled Garden in Ardentinny on Sunday, despite mixed weather bringing everything from sunshine and rain to sleet and even a touch of snow.
The free community event went ahead against a backdrop of classic west coast conditions, with those attending wrapping up warm and making the most of the day’s activities.
One of the main attractions was the ever-popular Easter egg hunt, which saw children setting off in search of hidden treasures before receiving chocolate egg prizes.
There was also plenty of action outdoors, with egg-and-spoon races for both children and adults, as well as sack races and a tug-of-war which drew plenty of support from the crowd.
Away from the races, visitors had the chance to try their hand at the coconut shy, while younger children were able to plant a sunflower to take home.
Food was also on offer throughout the day, with burgers, hot dogs and a selection of home baking helping to keep people warm and well fed.
Despite the changeable conditions, organisers were able to count the event as another success.
