Ardentinny retain the Pig

On a sunny Thursday, May 7, four triples from Ardentinny Bowling Club and Innellan Bowling and Tennis Club played for the bi-annual Pig.

As they took to the green, a bitterly cold breeze off the loch made conditions less than ideal for competitors. Nevertheless, every triple played very well, making the match a close-run, hard-to-predict event.

As in previous matches, it ended 2-2, making shots up the deciding factor. The two teams retired to the clubhouse where the two captains counted up the scorecards. Final results went Ardentinny’s way as they won by two shots, meaning the Pig remains in Ardentinny.

Everyone then enjoyed a lovely buffet and a few drinks. A raffle finished off proceedings before presidents Dougie Menzies and Jim Elsby thanked everyone from both clubs for making it an exciting afternoon. They both thanked the ladies for the buffet and everyone for donating the raffle prizes.

The next match is scheduled to take place at Innellan B&TC in September.
