PLANS to vary licence conditions at an Ardrishaig hotel have been agreed, including the addition of bar meals, recorded music and televised sports.
Thomas Melville applied to the Argyll and Bute licensing board for the changes at the Grey Gull on Glenburn Road, which also include an amendment of its layout plan to show a hot tub.
Councillors unanimously agreed to approve the application at a meeting of the Argyll and Bute licensing board on Tuesday, September 22.
Solicitor Stephen McGowan said: “Mr Melville has owned the hotel for around eight years. He is a vastly experienced hotelier and owns hotels in various parts of the country.
“He has taken the decision to refresh the licences across all of his estate, and it is really only a bit of housekeeping, which is why the application is before you today.
“Although the application has a lot of parts to it, it is a tidy-up to bring it up to speed, and we are very grateful to see no objections or adverse comments made.”
Licensing standards officer Jacklyn Robertson said: “Mr McGowan has covered everything. It is mostly a tidy-up of the activities and an adjustment to the commencement hours for on and off sales.”
Councillor Reeni Kennedy-Boyle (SNP, Isle of Bute) asked: “On the additional activities which you anticipate being outwith core hours, do you expect to have additional noise disruption for neighbours?”
Mr McGowan responded: “Really, the reference to ‘outwith core hours’ is to give assurance and reflect the fact that activities occur prior to the start of licenced hours.
“On the reference to televised sport, we will not be operating strange hours. Somebody could have the TV on in their room, or the bar could have a TV in the background.
“It is to cover early morning operation. If somebody wants to put Sky Sports on in their room, we have it on the licence.”
