Big fixtures continue as Rothesay season draws to a close

ROTHESAY Golf Club has enjoyed a busy couple of weekends of competition as the season slowly draws to a close, despite difficult weather conditions on both weekends.

The club congratulated all competitors who took part across a series of big fixtures.

On Saturday, September 12, the popular Glengarry Masters was held, with Jimmy and Heather Reid once again sponsoring and running a successful day.

The couple’s chosen charity, Calum’s Cabin, was once again the recipient of generous donations.

The winning team was the young quartet of E. Mulholland, J. Cowan, C. McMillan and R. Lowery, who finished with a score of 123.

A. Murray, M. Murty, I. Cowie and A. Docherty were runners-up on 124, while D. Coll, G. McArthur, J. Hoey and T. McDonald finished third.

Attention then turned to captain Derek Smith’s Del’s Captain’s Day on Friday, September 18.

The competition was played as a two-ball Texas Scramble, with plenty of prizes on offer, including a prize on every hole.

Iain Simpson and Stuart Brady came out on top with a score of 62.

Alan Smith Jnr and Craig McFarlane were runners-up on 63, while Hughie and Craig Charker took third place with 65.

The medal finals then took place on Sunday, September 20, once again in very poor conditions.

In Division One, Iain Simpson took first place, with Donnie McDermid finishing second.

Ian McDonald claimed Division Two with a superb net 65, comfortably the best score of the day, with Bobby Liddell taking second place.

In Division Three, Ewan McTaggart finished first, with Richie Smith taking second.

The club congratulated everyone who competed over the two weekends and thanked those involved in organising and supporting the various fixtures.
