Bolton claims McLean Cup

ROTHESAY Golf Club hosted two competitions over the weekend, with golfers battling it out for honours in the George Hanson Seniors and John Mackirdy Haulage McLean Cup.

Friday saw the George Hanson Seniors competition take place, with Jimmy Ewing claiming the overall prize on the day.

George Reynolds was the scratch winner, while the age category winners were James Crichton in the 50-57 category, Ali Murray in the 58-64 category and Tommy Bolton in the 65 and over category.

The winners were pictured alongside George and Davina Hanson, who supported the competition.

On Saturday, the club hosted the John Mackirdy Haulage McLean Cup, with 15-year-old Caleb Bolton taking the main prize after an excellent gross score of 64, which was also his net score.

Donald Standaloft claimed the scratch prize in the competition.

Caleb and Donald were pictured with Jack and Ellyse Mackirdy, representing the competition’s sponsors.

Rothesay Golf Club thanked both sponsors for their continued support of the club and its competitions.

The weekend’s events provided another opportunity for golfers of different ages to compete for honours, with some impressive performances on display.
