BUTE Clay Target Club held their annual Boxing Day shoot last Friday, with 44 guns who travelling from far and wide being treated to perfect weather and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day.
The shooting was of a high standard across all categories as Ally Carmichael claimed victory in the 1st 15, while Leighton Reid took top honours in the 2nd 15. Carter was the winner of the 10, continuing a strong showing on the day.
One of the highlights came in the Double Rise, where Mark Lowe emerged victorious after a tense shoot-off with Keith ‘Kenny’ Andrew. The Ladies Trophy was deservedly won by Hazel Robertson, while Peter Malcolm took home the Novice Trophy.
There was family rivalry in the 15-target beginners event, with Dean Robertson getting the better of both his brother and father to claim the win. James Carter secured the Local High Gun, while the Overall High Gun title went to Keith ‘Kenny’ Andrew, capping off an impressive performance.
Another memorable moment saw Tom Young beat Marty Somerville in a dramatic shoot-off for the Pull Trap, shooting from the hip to seal the win in a memorable day for the club.
