Brandane Bulls fall to clinical Renton in tough conditions

BRANDANE Bulls made the trip to face Renton on Saturday but came away on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline in challenging conditions.

Heavy rain throughout the week had put a number of fixtures in doubt across the west region, but Rentons pitch held up well enough for the game to go ahead.

The match began as a closely contested affair, with both sides evenly matched and competing strongly across the park. Bulls defence impressed early on, dealing well with Rentons attacking play and holding firm under pressure.

However, the breakthrough came from a well-delivered corner, with a powerful header giving the hosts a 10 lead.

Bulls responded well, pushing forward in search of an equaliser and creating several promising opportunities. Despite their efforts, they were caught out just before half-time by a quick counterattack, allowing Renton to double their advantage and head into the break 20 up.

The second-half continued in a similar vein, with both teams contributing to an open and entertaining contest. Bulls came agonisingly close to reducing the deficit when Robin struck the crossbar with a free-kick.

Midway through the half, Renton added a third goal before sealing the win with a fourth around ten minutes from time.

While the final scoreline may not reflect the overall balance of play, Bulls can take positives from a performance in which they competed strongly for long periods against a clinical opposition.

Kai McFarlane was named player of the match after an outstanding display in defence, winning the majority of his individual battles.

The club also extended thanks to match sponsors MDS Gas Services Ltd for their continued support.
