Brandane shines at World Irish Dance Championships

Local Irish dancer, Lexie Brown, has made her mark on the international stage, finishing an impressive fourth at the World Irish Dance Championships held recently in Liverpool.

Lexie, who competes through the World Irish Dance Association, had to qualify earlier this year at an event in Falkirk to earn her spot at the prestigious championship.

At the Worlds, she performed three rounds of dance judged by five experienced adjudicators from a variety of Irish dance organisations, with two of the judges placing her second.

“She was very nervous as the results were being called” said her teacher, Marian Downes.

“Lexie was delighted to be in the top four.

“She attends three to four classes a week as well as helping the younger children in the class.”

Marian praised Lexie’s dedication and support system, adding: “Lexie works very well with her teachers, who constantly push her to be the best she can, as well as her parents and dance friends who support her.”

Looking ahead, Lexie is now preparing for the Isle of Bute Feis, organised by her dance class, and is also setting her sights on the Association’s World Championship in Belgium in 2026.
