THERE WAS another great game of football on display in Rothesay at the weekend as the 2013 Bulls took on Dumbarton Riverside in the West Region Cup on a windy Saturday
morning.
Both teams looked lively early on, creating chances, however it was the Bulls who took an early lead when Oscar got himself free and rounded the keeper to slot into an empty net–the youngster
showing great composure to score. Dumbarton drew level soon after with a long range free-kick which was struck well from the Dumbarton defender.
But the Bulls got themselves back in the lead after a throw-in just outside the Dumbarton box landed at Jay, who took a lovely touch and hit it on the half-volley– the keeper stood no chance.
However, Dumbarton once again got themselves level with a penalty and the half ended 2-2.
Midway through the second- half, the Bulls got back ahead with a great finish from Zak from a corner–scoring his first competitive goal this season with a lovely controlled strike on the bounce
And the Bulls pulled away soon after, making it 4-2 when Oscar doubled his tally for the day.
The Bulls came close to increasing the lead a couple more times, with shots from Jay and Lonan before an unbelievable strike from Harris was denied by the crossbar.
But with five minutes to go, Dumbarton got their third from a deflected effort. However, the Bulls managed to hold onto their lead until the full-time whistle and progressed to the next round of the West Region Cup.
