THE achievements of the Brandane Bulls 2013s squad were celebrated in style at their end-of-season prizegiving at Rothesay Golf Club.

Players, families, coaches and supporters gathered for the event to reflect on a memorable campaign and recognise the efforts of a team which has already secured its own place in club history.

The squad became the first Brandane Bulls team to play competitive football since the original Bulls side was formed in 2017 – an achievement described as something every player should be proud of.

Organisers also took the opportunity to thank the many sponsors and supporters who backed the team throughout the season.

The 2013s received sponsorship for matchday equipment as well as individual matchday sponsors across the campaign, with club representatives saying the support demonstrated the strength of the local community and the importance placed on grassroots sport.

Special thanks were also extended to local catering businesses which provided food throughout the season, including for match officials.

Every player received an individual trophy in recognition of their contribution to the team, before a series of special awards were presented by Davie Mackay and Gordon McMillan.

The Captain’s Award went to Lucas Rutherford in recognition of his leadership and commitment throughout the season.

Oscar Mullen picked up Top Goalscorer after netting an impressive 22 goals in his first season of competitive football.

Most Improved Player was awarded to Harris Cochrane following a season of development.

Kai McFarlane enjoyed a particularly successful evening, collecting both Parents’ Player of the Year and Coaches’ Player of the Year after a series of consistent performances in defence.

Manager’s Player was awarded to long-serving squad member Jack Roberts for his dedication, attitude and commitment to the team.

Players’ Player of the Year – voted for by teammates – was presented to Lucas Rutherford in recognition of the appreciation shown to him by the squad.

The club also paid tribute to parents, grandparents, families and friends for their support throughout the season, thanking them for early starts, lifts to training and standing on the sidelines in all conditions.

In a post on social media, the club said the players had represented themselves, their families and the island with pride throughout the campaign and had ‘done the island proud’.
