Two residents from Ardnahein Care Home proved age is no barrier as they took to the ice at the Waterfront Leisure Complex last month.
On February 20, 104-year-old Kath and 84-year-old Hugh enjoyed a special trip to the ice rink, inspired by watching the Winter Olympics.
Wrapped up warmly against the chill, the pair remained in their wheelchairs while staff gently pushed them out onto the ice.
Kath and Hugh have both been avid viewers of the Winter Olympics and had spoken about how much they would love to try one of the sports for themselves. While skiing proved a little too ambitious, ice skating offered the perfect alternative.
The trip reflects Ardnahein Care Home’s commitment to creating meaningful experiences for residents, no matter their age, and supporting them to continue ticking items off their bucket lists.
For Kath and Hugh, it was a day to remember and proof that you’re never too old to try something different.
