Tighnabruaich welcomed in some seasonal cheer with late-night opening and laughter as the community’s Christmas tree was lit up.
The tree itself was donated by Kilfinan Community Forest, and Tighnabruaich District Development Trust (TDDT) supplied the lights.
Shops and cafés stayed open late for the event, as Kim from the Tearoom gave out hot chocolate, mince pies and treats.
She said: I’m a Christmas person and I love to see the village getting together, especially the kids. It gives me a lot of pleasure to support this event with free hot chocolate, mince pies and treats. And I get to dress as an elf!
Youngsters from Tighnabruaich Primary sang some of the songs from their Christmas show for the crowd of around 100 people.
Mick Eyre from TDDT added: Tighnabruaich shops are the historic heart of the village, and the Development Trust has taken steps to maintain the character of the street.
We love to see local people and visitors use it for leisure, shopping and community events. We’re very grateful for the support we get from the shops, cafés and galleries, and we’re lucky to have a thriving primary school that always gets behind these events.

Amid the festivities and general feel-good factor, Kim noted: Next year will be even better, and I’ve started talking to the Development Trust about the plans already!
