Community invited to help shape the future of Cowal Highland Gathering

THE ORGANISERS of the Cowal Highland Gathering are inviting members of the local community to a special public open evening to hear more about the vision for the Gathering, plans for this year’s event, and ambitions for the future.

The evening will give residents, local businesses and supporters the opportunity to meet those involved, hear updates on preparations for this year’s event and share their own views on how it can continue to grow and evolve for future generations.

Held annually in Dunoon since 1894, the Cowal Gathering is recognised as one of the world’s largest and most spectacular Highland games, attracting thousands of visitors every year to celebrate Scottish culture, music, dance and sport.

David Mitchell, chairman of the Cowal Gathering, said: “The Cowal Gathering has always belonged to the community and we want local people to play a central role in shaping its future.

“This open evening is an opportunity for everyone to hear about our plans, share ideas and help us ensure the Gathering continues to thrive for generations to come.”

He continued: “The Gathering is not only a celebration of Scottish culture and tradition, it is also an important event for Dunoon and the wider Cowal area, bringing people together and showcasing everything that makes this part of Scotland so special.”

The organisers hope as many people as possible will attend the event and contribute their thoughts and ideas.

The open evening takes place in the Burgh Hall on Wednesday, May 27, from 5.30pm-6.30pm.
