'Concerns' over new Dunoon leisure centre timeline

Editor – I read with interest in a recent edition of your newspaper an article regarding proposed sites for the new Dunoon swimming pool and leisure centre.

In the same edition there was an article from your archives promising the people of Dunoon that the new pier and linkspan would be a far better and more resilient service, which would continue to provide transport for passengers and vehicles with less disruptions and cancellations.

As we now know these assurances were unfulfilled, so with this in mind, as someone who needs to frequently use the swimming pool for exercise due to limited mobility, can Argyll and Bute Council please ensure the existing pool does not close before any new building is open and can they also confirm any new pool will have the same depth and length as the present 25 metre one?

I hope by airing these concerns, which many regulars of the Dunoon pool have, the Council will address them and, unlike the ferry debacle, endeavour to continue to meet the needs of the swimmers of Dunoon for the foreseeable future.
