Cowal Camera Club wraps up season with impressive showcase

COWAL Camera Club brought its 2025/26 competition season to a close last week with an evening celebrating creativity, skill and a high standard of photography.

Members gathered on Monday, March 23, for the final judging night, with Ken Lindsey of Eastwood Photographic Society returning as judge. A familiar face at the club, Mr Lindsey hassupportedCowalCamera Club for many years as both a speaker and judge.

Opening proceedings, he reminded members that judging is always subjective, before delivering a detailed and engaging critique of the entries. His feedback offered both practical advice and praise, recognising the effort and imagination behind each image.

The overall standard was strong across both print and digital categories, with a number of entries receiving Commended and Highly Commended awards.

In the print section, joint third place went to Carriage Fhada Lighthouse by George Spence and Mascara by Isabella Hillhouse. Joint second place was awarded to Hummingbird Hawkmoth by Sybil Baldwin and Seacliff, also by Isabella Hillhouse. First place went to Isabella Hillhouse for Smokies Tonight.

The digital category proved equally competitive. Joint third place went to Luskentyre Low Tide by Lorraine Parramore and Castlehill by David Dunlop. Adam Heath secured joint second place with two entries, Oh! Sh!t! and Swoop. First place was awarded to Gentle Flow by Lorraine Parramore.

Although the competition season has now concluded, one final highlight remains. All first, second and third placed images from throughout the year will be judged again to decide the overall Print and Image of the Year.

Cowal Camera Club meets regularly at the Community Shed, Wellness Room, Unit 2, 8 Hamilton Street, Dunoon, and welcomes photographers of all abilities.
