THERE were grey skies above and plenty of midges, but the rain stayed away for most of the day as players battled it out at this year’s 80th edition of the CBPS Dunoon Trophy at Cowal Golf Club.
Defending champion Chris Carson retained his title in style, shooting a sensational 65, finishing nine strokes clear of runner-up and past winner Andrew Barton.
The Wilson & Bisset Trophy for the best net score was a closer affair, though. Iain Henderson and Jake Campbell both returned superb net 63s, with Iain awarded the silver on a better inward half.
The Dunoon Burgh Centenary Trophy, awarded to the team with the best three net scores from four, was won by Crawford Richmond, Andrew Laycock, Iain Henderson and Fraser MacDonald with a great score of three-under-par 204.
