AFTER a hugely successful run in Greenock, Cowal local Elaine Graham is bringing her one-woman production of Shirley Valentine to her own patch with two nights at Dunoon Burgh Hall.
The show, made famous by the on-screen portrayal by Pauline Collins, had a sold-out run at the Albany earlier in the year.
On her time on stage across the Clyde, Elaine said: “It was really well received and great fun to do.
“We always thought it would be great to get the chance to perform it again, so when the opportunity arose to put it on in Dunoon we jumped at the chance.”
This time round, fellow local Lauren Fisher is directing the show. The award-winning director from Dunoon will also be directing this year’s pantomime for the Dunoon Players later on in the year.
Elaine added: “Bringing this production to Dunoon is really special for Lauren and me, not least because we’re not having to travel across the water for rehearsals.
“I have performed several times at Dunoon Burgh Hall since its refurbishment. It is a very special place to perform and I feel very privileged that we are getting the opportunity to bring Shirley Valentine to Dunoon. We are hoping this will give more people the opportunity to see it.”
Due to differing layouts, the production will have a few alterations compared to their run in Greenock, meaning Elaine is encouraging those who have already seen it to come out in their numbers again.
There will be two performances, one on Saturday August 1 at 7.30pm and the other on Sunday at 2.30pm, and tickets are available to buy here.
