THIS year’s World Book Day proved to be a huge hit across the local region, with our newsroom inundated with photographs from proud parents eager to share pictures of their children dressed as their favourite storybook characters.
From classic literary heroes and magical wizards to modern favourites and imaginative homemade costumes, the creativity on display was truly impressive.
Schools and nurseries across Cowal and Bute clearly embraced the annual celebration of reading, with youngsters arriving in colourful outfits inspired by the characters and stories they love most.
Over the past week, we have received a remarkable number of submissions, highlighting just how much enthusiasm there is locally for World Book Day and the joy that books continue to bring to young readers.
Many parents told us their children had spent weeks planning their costumes, while others took the opportunity to get creative at home, crafting outfits together as a family.
World Book Day is designed to encourage a lifelong love of reading, and judging by the photographs we received, it certainly achieved that once again this year.
