PLANS for a self-catering pod to replace a domestic garage on the Cowal Peninsula have been submitted to council officers, two years after they were refused.
Rachel McNaughton originally lodged the proposal for planning permission for the site at Cul Mhor in Colintraive in May 2024.
But Argyll and Bute Council planning officials refused it, citing concerns over how many parking spaces could be formed on the site.
The revised application is expected to be ruled on by the authority by early July, with the public now able to view plans and submit feedback.
A supporting statement lodged with the application said: “The revised application has been designed with direct regard to the reasons for the previous refusal.
“Revisions include a fully revised drainage scheme incorporating a new six-person sewerage treatment plant, updated parking arrangements providing three on-site spaces with turning provision, a detailed landscaping strategy to address concerns regarding screening, and a comprehensive design statement demonstrating how the proposal responds to the character of the site and its wider context.
“In addition, pre-application engagement has been carried out with immediately adjoining neighbours, both of whom confirmed they have no objection in principle to the proposal.
“Their one request — that the pavement be lowered to allow direct vehicular access to the pod — has been agreed to by the applicant, and a separate application for the necessary roads consent will be submitted to Argyll and Bute Council in due course.”
The statement added: “The proposal involves the erection of a small, single-storey self-catering pod measuring approximately 3.3 metres wide by 6.7 metres long, with a low-profile curved roof finished in black felt tile and vertical walls clad in natural timber.
“The pod is based on the ‘Munro’ model manufactured by Podzrus, a Scottish manufacturer, and is designed for self-catering occupation by up to two people.
“It is to be positioned in the side garden of the existing dwelling, in the location currently occupied by a dilapidated domestic garage which is to be removed.”
