SENIOR pupils at Dunoon Grammar School will receive their SQA examination results in the coming days, with school staff and careers advisers on hand to offer guidance and support as young people prepare to take the next step in their education or careers.
Results Day takes place on Tuesday, August 4, when hundreds of young people across Argyll and Bute will discover how they have performed in this year’s exams.
Recognising that the day can bring a mixture of excitement and uncertainty, members of Dunoon Grammar School’s Senior Leadership Team will be available from 9am until 12.30pm to speak to pupils and parents about their results and the options available to them.
Support will be available both in person at the school and over the telephone, while independent advisers from Skills Development Scotland will also be based at the Queen’s Hall throughout the morning to provide careers advice and information on education, training, apprenticeships and employment opportunities.
The school is also supporting this year’s #NoWrongPath campaign, which runs from August 3 to 7 and encourages employers and individuals to share their own career journeys on social media to demonstrate that success can be achieved through many different routes.
Organised by Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Argyll & Bute, the campaign aims to reassure young people receiving their exam results that there is no single route into a successful career and that many people’s paths include unexpected opportunities, changes of direction and new experiences.
Head Teacher David Mitchell echoed that message as he wished pupils well ahead of Results Day.
He said: “Results Day is always an emotional occasion for our young people. I would like to wish every one of our senior pupils the very best of luck and thank them for all the hard work, commitment and resilience they have shown throughout the year. I have every confidence that their efforts will be reflected in their results.
“It is also important to remember that there is no such thing as a ‘wrong path’. Whether a young person progresses to university, college, an apprenticeship, employment or chooses a different route, there are many opportunities available.
Every learner’s journey is unique, and we are committed to supporting our young people as they take the next step towards their future.”
Employers, organisations and individuals across Argyll and Bute are being encouraged to support the #NoWrongPath campaign by sharing their own career stories on social media using the hashtag #NoWrongPath, helping to inspire and reassure young people as they consider their futures.
The school is encouraging any pupil or parent with questions or concerns about exam results or future plans to contact the school office on Results Day, with staff available throughout the morning to provide advice, reassurance and support.
