Dunoon launches 2025 Poppy Appeal

THE 2025 Poppy Appeal is about to begin, with the famous red poppy tins set to appear in shops and businesses across Dunoon in the coming days.

Volunteers will also be on hand in supermarkets and on the streets, collecting donations in support of veterans and their families.

Last year, the Dunoon Poppy Appeal raised an impressive £14,356.50, a total organisers say was only possible thanks to the dedication of local volunteers.

This year, organisers Tom and Helen McCowan are once again calling for new volunteers to come forward.

Volunteering is open to anyone aged 16 or over, with no previous experience required and no need for military service. Volunteers are simply asked to give at least two hours of their time — and bring a smile.

An informal meeting will take place tonight (Friday, September 12) at 7pm in the Queens Hall, offering a chance to learn more about the appeal over a cup of tea.

Anyone wishing to get involved can email secretary@ dunooncommunitycouncil. co.uk or visit www. dunooncommunitycouncil. co.uk/dunoon-poppy- appeal.
