A SPECIAL screening examining the risks posed by climate change and environmental decline will take place in Dunoon later this month.
Gaia Gathering Dunoon is hosting a showing of the People’s Emergency Briefing film at The Gathering Place, Dunoon Bunkhouse, on Monday, June 15.
Doors will open at 6pm ahead of a 6.30pm start.
The film features footage from last November’s National Emergency Briefing and brings together leading experts in climate science, food security, public health, economics, national security and nature.
Organisers say the 50-minute presentation offers an evidence-based overview of how climate change and the loss of biodiversity are already affecting life across the UK, while exploring future risks and possible solutions.
Topics covered include flooding, heatwaves, pressure on infrastructure, food security and wider societal disruption linked to environmental change.
Following the screening, attendees will be invited to take part in a structured discussion examining what the issues raised in the film could mean for Dunoon and the wider community.
An organiser said the aim of the event is to encourage informed public discussion and help communities better understand the challenges and opportunities associated with climate resilience.
They added that the briefing explores both the scale of the risks and practical responses already being developed.
The event is free to attend, with tickets available in advance through the organisers’ online booking system.
