Dunoon singers make waves on their weekly voyage to rehearsals

A GROWING group of enthusiastic singers from Dunoon are proving that a stretch of water is no barrier for them.

Every Monday evening, the ensemble boards the ferry to Gourock to rehearse with the long-established Greenock Philharmonic Choir, one of the area’s most respected classical choirs.

What began with just a couple of keen voices has steadily grown into a thriving Dunoon contingent. Their increasing numbers now mean that car sharing from the ferry terminal is making the journey to rehearsals easier and adding a welcome sense of camaraderie along the way.

The choir is currently preparing for an important upcoming concert involving local school choirs, accompanied by the Glasgow Chamber Orchestra. The Dunoon singers are playing a full part in shaping what promises to be a memorable evening of choral music. With a rich programme and the Greenock choir performing at full strength, audiences can expect a night of exceptional sound.

The performance will take place in the magnificent Greenock Town Hall on Saturday, 28th March, a venue renowned for its acoustics and atmosphere. The choir warmly invites everyone from both sides of the Clyde to come along and enjoy a fantastic celebration of live choral singing.

More details about the concert and how to join the choir can be found at their website, greenockphilharmonic.co.uk.
