A DUNOON woman has been jailed for 20 months after embezzling up to £40,000 from a charity she worked for over a five-year period.
Jay Reid, (67), was sentenced at Greenock Sheriff Court on Wednesday, after previously being found guilty at the same court on December 17, 2025.
The court heard that Reid stole the money between 2016 and 2021, abusing a position of trust while working for the charity.
Following the sentencing, Sergeant Kamila Jelonkiewicz said: “Reid abused the trust placed in her and acted dishonestly to gain substantial sums of money from a charity.
“Police Scotland remains committed to thoroughly investigating financial crimes and bringing those responsible to account.”
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of fraud is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, or report concerns anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
