DYFL 2014’s faced a trip to Renfrew at the weekend as they faced a St Mirren youth outfit.

A game-plan of pestering, pressing and a focus on wing-play paid dividends against an organised St Mirren team.

At times they succumbed to some tough but fair challenges, but overall they more than held their own in every aspect, with work rate and commitment honed in training particularly noticeable.

DYFL’s quick-fire counterattack goals came in the end from Luke and Campbell, with Eithan following up late in the second-half to score with his backside, edging out St Mirren deservedly in the end.

The coaches praised their side’s tireless work rate, and with goalkeeper, Isaac, pulling off a miraculous top corner save in the final moments to secure the victory, they were delighted with another great week for the 2014’s.

But they wanted to reiterate that ‘regardless of scores, it’s the gelling, commitment and sportsmanship that shines through for the coaches’.
