PLANS have been retrospectively lodged for a Helensburgh town centre dance studio to be converted into a café.
Argyll and Bute Council planning officers are considering the bid for planning permission by Graeme Shearer for the premises at 11 Colquhoun Square.
Online listings, including a Facebook page, state that the address is occupied by Overflow coffee shop.
The proposal relates to permission for a change of use from class 11 (assembly and leisure) to class 3 (food and drink), with all food and drink sold for consumption on the premises and to take away.
The application states that there will be prepared food only in the form of toasted sandwiches, with no full cooking taking place on the site.
Council officials are expected to rule on the retrospective application by late November, with the public now able to submit feedback.
No design and access statement has currently been made available as part of the documents lodged with the application, but a brief statement said that drawings had been prepared to assist with an application for 11 Colquhoun Square.
A planning application form said that a previous planning application “was withdrawn based on conversation with planning. Misunderstanding led to further application not being submitted.
“Conversations with [area team leader] have taken to resolve promptly.” (sic)
It also said: “Previous submission withdrawn after discussion. Miscommunication led to subsequent application based on guidance from officer not submitted.
“Recent discussion with applicant on best way forward to resolve, including wording of application description.”
