PART of Helensburgh’s Waterfront will have its grass cut and flowerbeds attended to after a member of the public said it looked “uncared for and unloved”.
Cameron Foy, of Helensburgh Community Council, acknowledged that grass had been cut along most of the town’s seafront during 2026.
But he also said that the area between the pier and Sinclair Street had not had its grass cut this year, while plants were also not attended to.
A council official said that they would arrange for the matter to be dealt with in the coming weeks after a slight issue with a project handover.
The discussion took place at a meeting of Argyll and Bute Council’s Helensburgh and Lomond area committee on Tuesday, September 8.
Mr Foy said: “We seem to have grass being cut all the way from Rhu Road Higher along to the toilet block, then the mower stops and does not progress to Sinclair Street.
“So the grass has not been cut this year. The shrub beds have not been attended to either. There is a sense of frustration and until there is investment in the town, it looks good for a while, but a lack of maintenance means areas look uncared for and unloved.
“I had a message recently from a visitor who said how good the town looked because of a lack of litter, so little things like that do make a difference. Is there any way to get the grass cut and the flower beds attended to before the winter?”
Clerk Stuart McLean said that he had passed the question to the relevant council officers and would ensure Mr Foy received a response.
Mark Calder, the council’s project manager, then said: “I will arrange to have this dealt with in the next couple of weeks.
