OVER at Innellan Golf Club competition has been heating up, with the Wednesday and Saturday series reaching their conclusion and a number of major trophies being decided.
There was plenty of competition across the various events, with players battling it out for honours as the 2026 season moves into September.
The Wednesday series concluded with three weeks of competition.
In week 17, Thomas Law continued his strong run to take first place with 21 points. Iain McKie was second with 19, while Eric Large finished third with 18.
Week 18 saw Mark McAleese take top spot with 19 points, beating Duncan Lauder into second on 18. Iain McKie was third with 14.
The final week produced an impressive score from Harry Black, who carded 23 points to win. Douglas Wright finished second with 18, while James Gallagher was third with 17.
With all the scores counted, Thomas Law was crowned winner of the Wednesday series with a fantastic 153 points.
Stewart Campbell, known around the club as Mr DIY, finished second on 145, followed closely by Duncan Lauder in third on 143.
The Saturday series also came down to its final three weeks.
Week 17 was won by Stewart Campbell with a score of 64. Shona Derrett also carded 64 but was beaten on the countback, while Ben Bryant finished third with 67.
David McLaughlin took week 18 with a superb 39 points. James Gallagher was second on 37, with Stewart Campbell third on 36.
In the final week, Andrew McLaughlin took first place with an excellent 60. Dan Wilkinson finished second with 62 and Derek Purdue third with 64.
After the series scores were totalled, Shona Derrett was crowned the 2026 Saturday series winner with 86 points.
Gordon Miller finished second on 81, with Iain McKie third on 66.
Elsewhere, the Ladies’ Abu Dhabi Rosebowl was won by Katie Houston with 18 points.
Margaret Lauder finished second with 17, while Margaret Gallagher was third, losing out on the countback after also scoring 17.
The Ladies’ nine-hole Stableford was won by Shona Derrett with 13 points, beating Sandie Gemmell on the countback after she also scored 13. Margaret Lauder was third with 11.
The following week’s nine-hole Stableford saw Katie Houston take the honours with 16 points. Shona Derrett was second on 14, with Margaret Lauder third on 13.
The popular 125 Scramble saw teams of three take to the course, with plenty of tactical play and course management required.
The winning team of Scott Lauffer, Andy Holland and Billy McBride produced a sensational net score of 56.
Their round included an impressive 10 birdies and nine pars.
The stroke play competition was won by Grant McGillivray with a 64, followed by Simon McMahon on 66 and Russell Lees on 70.
The Wester Ferries Stableford was won by Gordon Miller with 36 points.
Keith Torrance finished second with 35, while Robert Dodds also scored 35 but was beaten on the countback.
The club thanked its greenkeeping staff for keeping the course in such excellent condition, as well as all the volunteers who give their time and everyone who turned out to play.
