Inverclyde Council homecare recruitment event in Greenock

Inverclyde Council is set to host a walk-in recruitment event for its homecare team at the end of this month, it has confirmed.

The local authority has reminded those interested in a career in social care about the session which will be held at Hillend Centre.

It will take place at the facility in East Crawford Street, Greenock, between the hours of 9.30am and 3pm on Wednesday, April 29.

The event, known as ‘Walk-in Wednesday’, offers people the opportunity to discuss opportunities as well as help in completing an application form and in some instances on-the-day interviews.

In a statement on its website, the council explained: “Our homecare service is delivered 365 days a year and supports individuals to live as independently as possible at home and to achieve their personal goals.

“Our fantastic team provide assistance with daily living tasks including meal preparation that may include specific feeding requirements which may have prescribed equipment, medication prompts, dressing and personal care.

“These roles are rewarding, fulfilling and incredibly valuable to individuals and the wider community.”

Social care workers at the local authority work alongside a team of professionals within Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, community nurses and social work staff.

The homecare service is available to help people to continue living as independently as possible and workers assist them with tasks such as getting dressed or making meals; maintaining personal hygiene and continence care; staying mobile indoors and in the community and taking medication.

The council added: “We regularly run in-person recruitment events where you can chat with staff about these roles and get help with completing an application form. We can often complete interviews on the day too.”

Other ‘Walk-in Wednesday’ events are scheduled for later this year, with one due to take place on Wednesday, July 29, and another on Wednesday, October 28.
